The 2018 Liveable Cities Conference is being held next month over 16 – 17 July at the Pullman Melbourne on the Park.
The discussion at the 2018 Conference will focus on sustainable transport solutions, greening and redesign of cities, renewing regional areas, integrating community decisions, government policy, health and wellbeing and strategies for environment implementation.
Mr Tim Crane, Business Case Director at Sydney Metro joins us at the conference to discuss ‘Creating a more Liveable Sydney through Sydney Metro West’.
Sydney Metro is the biggest urban rail investment in Australian history, transforming how we get around the nation’s biggest city. Services start in the first half of next year and, by 2024, Sydney will have 31 metro stations and a 66km new metro system.
The Sydney Metro West project will link the Sydney CBD with Greater Parramatta, doubling rail capacity between these two areas, linking new communities to rail services and unlocking housing supply and employment growth between the two centres.
It will service the key precincts of Greater Parramatta, Sydney Olympic Park, The Bays Precinct and the Sydney CBD.
This presentation will provide an overview of the current planning of Sydney Metro West and outline how this city-shaping project:
- Works with land use partners to improve liveability through integrated master planning
- Works with industry to improve design outcomes, uses world’s best practice technology and operational concepts and improves customer outcomes
- Is preserving flexibility in design to enable industry to participate in the meaningful development of the project to improve city building, transport and sustainability outcomes.
Tim is the Business Case Director for Sydney Metro West. He has more than 30 years’ experience in infrastructure development, funding and finance and has played key roles on more than $20 billion of infrastructure projects which are being operated and/or built today including: Sydney Metro City & Southwest (NSW), Parramatta Light Rail Stage 1 (NSW), New Intercity Fleet (NSW), New Generation Rollingstock (QLD), Gold Coast Rapid Transit (QLD), Airport Link (QLD), Northern Busway (QLD), Gateway Upgrade Project (QLD), Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (QLD).
